New books I’ve been reading…

If you haven’t read Stitches by David Small, check it out now!   In this autobiography, David Small captures the pain and sadness of growing up unloved and unwanted.  His black and white illustrations and sparse words convey so much hurt it’s almost hard to read.  One person changes his life, one person isn’t afraid to tell him the truth and slowly, very slowly he begins to grow and discover his talents and his heart. 

“The American Muslim Perspective”

Meet the authors of The American Muslim Teenager’s Handbook on Saturday, Jan.23 @ 2:30pm at the First Baptist Church located next to the PT Library.  This book has been called both “eye-opening” and “full of wisdom for all ages.”

Dungeons and Dragons

Join Thierry Williamson at the Port Townsend Library on Saturday, January 9 from 2pm-4pm for a Dungeons and Dragons tournament.  Limited space so come early!  For ages 11 and up.

Writing the Perfect College Application Essay

Sheila Bender, local author and editor, will be at the library on Monday, Nov.30@6:30pm for a FREE workshop on writing the perfect college application essay. Designed for Seniors and Juniors in high school. Parents are also invited.

Next TAB meeting is Tuesday, November 10 @ 2:45.  We’ll plan the December 12 program for kids in the community.  We’ll also eat, play Apples to Apples, talk about books and movies, and laugh a lot.  Meeting in the Charles Pink House next to the Library.  Look for the flying fish!TAB

Bloodhag plays free concert in PT!

Bloodhag, a heavy metal sci-fi band from Seattle, plays a free concert on Friday, October 23 at 8pm at the Masonic Hall.  Come dressed as your favorite sci-fi or fantasy character.  Masonic Hall is at 1338 Jefferson St.  Local band, A Wandering Mind, opens the show.

Peep-o-Ramas

It’s time once again to create your favorite scene from a book, movie, TV show, or band using PEEPS! Tuesday, April 7 at 2:30 at the Pink House. For ages 12-18. Bring your friends. Guaranteed laughs.
